After watching this video, I feel that I can add something more to my answer to Esmi's question regarding dapu... I found that just by doing it more and more, you can find your own judgement on how you want to play the piece that you are reconstructing. You can first study pieces that have recordings from other qin masters, then start to do your own reconstruction that does not have a recording you can listen to. And just play it, experiment with it, and find a good rhythm you like, until you can play it from your heart.
